[edit] Comments from Casper Van Dien
Via his official forums at his website, Casper Van Dien reported that the first draft of the script was "Awesome." He stated that Ed Neumeier was working on the budget and that they would be meeting with Sony about the project. He stated that in the script the character Johnny Rico has been promoted to a general and that script contains a “main villain bug”, similar to the use of the Brain Bug in the first film. [1] On July 19, 2006, Van Dien said that the earliest shoot date would be in November 2006 or the beginning of 2007. [2]Through his MySpace account, Van Dien also revealed that South Africa, Morocco, Utah, and Canada are all being considered for shoot locations. [3]
Van Dien also stated that the writer of Starship Troopers and Starship Troopers 2, Edward Neumeier, would be directing, saying "It is about time Ed got behind the camera." This would be Neumeier's directorial debut.[4]
