Starr Gate is at the south-western extremity of Blackpool, in Lancashire and hosts the southern terminal loop of the Blackpool Tramway. The district (South Shore) is adjacent to Squires Gate and close to Blackpool Airport.

In the late 1970s for a short period, a hovercraft provided a transport service to Southport.
