"Starless" is a song by British progressive rock band King Crimson. It was featured on the Red album in 1974.
The song is roughly 12 minutes and 15 seconds in length, and it is the longest song on the Red album. It starts with vocals, mellotron strings, electric guitar and a saxophone. The middle section in the song (which builds up similarly to The Talking Drum) is according to fans, one of King Crimson's finest build-ups. It starts with distorted guitar, little drumming and heavy bass. As the song progresses, more distortion is added to the bass, the guitar picking gets harder, and more layers of drums are added. It ends with a fast saxophone solo and distorted guitars and basses, and very expressive drumming by Bill Bruford.
The song has been performed by the 21st Century Schizoid Band, going against their usual setlists of performing material the first four King Crimson albums (when members of 21st Century Schizoid Band were in King Crimson).
