Stanley Roper

Stanley Roper (played by Norman Fell) is the name of a fictional character from the sitcom Three's Company and its spinoff The Ropers.
Mr. Roper owned and managed the apartment building in Santa Monica that was home to Jack Tripper, Janet Wood and Chrissy Snow. He had a love-hate relationship with his wife, Helen (portrayed by Audra Lindley).
His wife always wanted to get romantic with him, but he appeared uninterested. However, he seemed very interested in flirting with younger women. Stanley was extremely cheap and was very much penny wise, pound foolish. After Mr. Roper sold the building to Bart Furley, Bart's brother Ralph (played by Don Knotts) took over as landlord.
Eventually, he and Helen moved to Cheviot Hills, California and lived next door to snobby real estate agent, Jeffrey P. Brookes, III. Stanley didn't much like living next to Jeffrey, and the feeling was mutual.
Norman Fell would occasionally break the fourth wall by staring at the audience with a smile realising something funny happened. (It was unscripted when Fell did that once)
