Stanley Rogers (author)

Stanley Harold Rogers (1888 - 1961) was a marine author and illustrator from New York City. He studied art at Goldsmiths College in London before WWI. In WWI he served in the Royal Navy. He then returned to New York where he wrote and illustrated over 40 books for children and adults between 1920 and 1960. These included Sea Lore, The Atlantic, The Indian Ocean, Enchanted Isles, Gallant Deeds of the War, Hazards of War, Barenetha Rock and Hazards of the Deep. Stanley Rogers was married to the children’s illustrator Franke Rogers (nee Woodhouse) who wrote and illustrated the popular Robin Family series and who was also the original illustrator of the Mr. Papingay books written by Marion St John Webb.
