[edit] Prodigious Talent

Stanley Aborah is a prodigious two-footed attacking product of the AFC Ajax academy. Aborah was born in Ghana and has had Belgian nationality since he was 10 years old. Once touted as one of the best youngsters in the World, he had spells at R.S.C. Anderlecht among other youth academies including Cappellen, AA Gent and before joining Ajax through Germinal Beerschot in 2001 aged 14 years. His father, Stanley Aborah, Snr, a former Ghana International, was a defensive midfielder and played at Clubs including Germinal Ekeren now called Germinal Beerschot after a merger in 1999.

A former Young Ajax captain, he stepped into the senior Ajax squad in 2004/05 and made his debut [1] on October 16, 2004 against SC Heerenveen, playing in the UEFA Champions League victory [2] against Maccabi Tel-Aviv FC [3] three days later. After two more appearances, like the previous ones as substitute, he suffered fitness problems and dropped back into the reserves - who won their league.[1]

[edit] Loaned out of Ajax

Ajax [ loaned] him in the 2005/06 season to second division F.C. Den Bosch to gain more experience. Aborah took part in 21 matches with this club and scored three goals. [4] After his brief spell as an Ajax-1 player Aborah returned to Young Ajax, where he developed a reputation as an enfant terrible and a love-hate relationship with coach John van den Brom, who made Aborah captain, but also banned him from the team for a few weeks when the players reacted to a substitution by verbally abusing the coach. Aborah had 27 appearances for Young Ajax in the Beloftencompetitie ('Talent Competition') in the past two seasons.

FC Den Bosch director Fred van der Hoorn commented on the club's official website: "Aborah is a more than talented player, about whom we already talked to Ajax last summer. Ajax wanted to wait until December, but when the KNVB came up with an October 31 deadline for domestic transfers, things developed fast. We are very pleased with that, as Aborah could really add something extra to our team."[2]

[edit] Modest move

On January 3, 2007, Stanley Aborah signed for modest Belgian Second Division side FCV Dender EH. The 19 year old attacking midfielder did not get an extension to his contract at Ajax Amsterdam in July 2006. Trials at Middlesbrough, Hamburger SV, Caen, Arminia Bielefeld [5], Lierse S.K. and S.V. Zulte Waregem did not produce the desired result.

Dender has given Aborah the chance to play. The fusion club is leading the standings in the second division. Aborah got a contract to the end of the 2006/07 season. The midfielder trained from Ekeren in the the last few weeks to this new deal.[6]

[edit] Youth International

Aborah has dual Ghanaian and Belgian citizenship. He is a Belgium Youth (U-18) International.

[edit] Trivia

Stanley Aborah, Jnr is the son of former Ghanaian international Stanley Aborah Snr.
