Stanisław Mackiewicz

Stanisław "Cat" Mackiewicz (December 18, 1896 in Saint Petersburg - February 18, 1966 in Warsaw) was a Polish Conservative writer and monarchist. He was a Member of Parliament (Sejm) 1928-1935 representing the BBWR faction. He served as Prime Minister of the Polish government in exile 1954-1955. He was a brother of Józef Mackiewicz.

He joined the Polish Military Organisation in 1917 and served as a volunteer in the Polish Army during Polish-Soviet War (1920). After Józef Piłsudski's death in opposition, he was imprisoned in Bereza Kartuska in 1939. He left Poland on September 18 1939 and returned in 1956.
