Stanisław Lubieniecki

Stanisław Lubieniecki (b. August 23, 1623 in Raków - May 18, 1675, Hamburg) was a Polish Socinian astronomer, historian and writer. His last name is sometimes listed as Lubiniezky or Lubyenyetsky, while his first is sometimes Latinized as Stanislaus.

Educated at the Akademia Rakowska in 1646-1650, in France and the Netherlands.

His 1666-68 work Theatrum Cometicum, or "Theatre of Comets", is an illustrated anthology of 415 comets from the biblical epoch of the deluge up until 1665.

Lubiniezky crater on the Moon was named in his honor.
