Standardisation of Instrument Testing of Cotton

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Historically, cotton has been classed manually by skilled workers who distinguish between the various grades of cotton based on Color, Trash (leaf) content, length of fibers and strength (to name a few). In more recent years, companies such as Uster-Zellweger and Premier have produced commercial equipment which test samples automatically.

In the past couple of years, there has been a drive to standardise the result formats and testing parameters of these machines. This move is known as the Standardisation of Instrument Testing of Cotton, or SITC.
