STATCOM

A STATCOM is a member of the FACTS family of devices used on alternating current electricity transmission networks.

It is a fast acting, reactive power compensator, generally used for dynamic voltage control and to assist in controlling reactive power flow on a network and for recovering from system faults.

It is similar to a Static VAr Compensator.
