This statue on the Nieuwmarkt in Amsterdam is made by Piet Esser in 1968 as a monument for the Dutch playwright Bredero who died 350 years before. The scene is from from Brederos 1617 play "De Spaanschen Brabander Ierolimo", where the poor nobleman Jerolimo tries to kiss a whore.
