The photograph features the fascinating night view of the Victoria Harbour of Hong Kong in two layers, with Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon Peninsula in the foreground, the Central, Hong Kong Island (the opposite side of the harbour) in the background. In the foreground is a ferry of the Star Ferry, one of the oldest cross-habour transport services in Hong Kong, parking at the pier. In the background are the two office towers of the International Finance Centre (the taller "2ifc" on the left and the shorter "1ifc" on the right), which were constructed and opened in recent years. The foreground and the background create a strong contrast between the old and the new in Hong Kong. This photograph was taken by Alan Mak, the nominator, in December 2005.
