This means that all trains to the city leave from the same island platform, so it the train happens to travel on the unexpected track, it is a simple thing to walk over to the other platform. St Marys platforms are accessible by lifts, and is therefore classified as an Easy Access station for wheelchairs.

[edit] History
St Marys station opened in 1862 with the construction of the Main Western Line[1]. It is the current western extent of quadruplication of the Western Line built as part of the Blue Mountains electrification in the 1950s, although the original proposal was to extend it through to Penrith. St Marys was the junction of the former Ropes Creek branch line, which opened in 1942. This line is now truncated into two storage sidings at the western end of the station.
[edit] Services
The station is served by three trains per hour for most of the time, with additional trains at peak hours.
