St Mary Cray railway station is in the London Borough of Bromley in south-east London, in Travelcard Zone 6. The station, and all trains serving it, is operated by Southeastern.

The station is 14.7 miles from London Victoria. (A survey marker on the platform shows the distance as 14 miles and 59 chains, or 23.72 km.)

To the west of the station the Up and Down Chatham Loop lines give access to the South Eastern Main Line where the next station is Chislehurst. There are normally no direct trains between Chislehurst and St Mary Cray, as trains that use the connecting curves usually run non-stop between London Bridge and either Rochester or West Malling.
