St Joseph's RC Academy

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

St. Joseph's Academy is the only Roman Catholic secondary school within the New Farm Loch area of Kilmarnock, Scotland.

The school dates from 1955 and comprises two large buildings surrounded by an abundance of play areas and playing fields and it contains all the modern facilities required to give young people an education appropriate to their needs.

There is currently major redevelopment going on within the school grounds with a new school being built in the playing fields. This new build will also incorporate a new primary school, taking the pupils from St. Columba's and St. Matthew's. It's due to open in time for the 2008 school year.

Currently the school takes its pupils from the local Catholic primary schools, not just from Kilmarnock but the surrounding towns and villages. These schools are: St. Columba's, St. Matthews and Mount Carmel in Kilmarnock, St. Sophia's in Galston, St. Patrick's in Auchinleck and St. John's in Cumnock.
