St. Vincent Health is a nonprofit hospital and health care system based in Indianapolis, Indiana. Named for the 17th century Parisian St. Vincent de Paul, St. Vincent Health is the state's sixth largest employer at 11,500 and operates 16 hospital facilities that serve 45 counties throughout central Indiana. [edit] History

St. Vincent Health traces its beginnings to four members of the Daughters of Charity who traveled to Indianapolis on April 26, 1881. The sisters renovated an abandoned seminary on East Vermont Street, converting it into a hospital.
