St. Thomas' Episcopal School

St. Thomas' Episcopal School (STES) is a private, Episcopal institution serving grades Kindergarten through 12. It is located in the Meyerland area of Houston, Texas. STES has 645 students and 100 faculty members. It is accredited by the Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools.
STES is operated by St. Thomas' Episcopal Church, Houston, a traditional Episcopal parish. The school has a daily chapel service.
Academically, STES is committed to a challenging, classical liberal arts curriculum in the Christian tradition. All students study Latin from the sixth grade through high school. A number of elective languages can be chosen by 7th grade to high school students. The school offers a variety of Advanced Placement courses to its students. STES graduates attend colleges and universities across the country.
The school's world-renowned Scottish Arts program consists of a pipe band and competitive highland dancing. The band has won the Juvenile World Pipe Band Championship in Glasgow, Scotland five times, most recently in August, 2006. One of its highland dancing students, Carla Gardner, is the 2006 United States and North American Champion in her age category.
STES offers a number of outstanding extracurricular and cocurricular activities including a Mock Trial team that was the first from a private school to win a Texas state championship and a yearbook program that won a Gold Crown Award from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association in 2006.
