St. Pius X High School was founded in 1959 in an attempt to provide a Catholic education for high school students in Jefferson County, Missouri. To this day it remains the only Catholic high school in the county. It is part of the St. Louis Archdiocese.
St. Pius was one of the first schools in the nation to offer a semester long Drug course, a requirement for students in their Junior year. This course was created and is still run by Martin Zielonko, who also acts as the school's counselor. Other notable faculty members include Scott Taylor, who has written a number of songs for the alternative-country band The Bottle Rockets.
St. Pius fields teams in numerous sports, such as football, volleyball, baseball, and softball, as well as both male and female versions of basketball, tennis, cross country, track, and soccer.
St. Pius' current President and CEO is Charles Nolan, and its principal is Norma Overberg.
Notable alumni include Steve Stoll, a Democratic former Missouri State Senator and Congressional candidate, Mike Henneman former All-Star pitcher for the Detroit Tigers, and Don "Doo-Doo" Brown.
