Saint Peter Chanel High School is located in Bedford, Ohio, a southeast suburb of Cleveland. It is run by the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland.

In 1952, Bishop John Krol, an Auxiliary Bishop of Cleveland and superintendent of Catholic Education, had a meeting with Fr. Joseph Buckley SM. On 8 May 1953, the contract to build the new Marist High School was signed by the Rev. Edward McGrath and Archbishop Edward F. Hoban. The Marist Fathers also established then Blessed now St.Pius X Parish.

Archbishop Hoban donated 33 acres to build the new High School. On January 31, 1956, construction started on a $1.75 million dollar complex. The new Marist High School was named St. Peter Chanel, the name of the Marist Fathers' first saint. Peter Chanel was named a Saint in 1954, by Pope Pius XII. September 4, 1957 the first class entered with 98 Students.

In 1962, St. Peter Chanel expanded the Willard Wing completing it in 1963.

Ripp Field was built in 1972 and lit in 1980. Ripp Field has a capacity of 3,500 fans and it is shared with Cleveland Central Catholic.

On June 30, 1973, the Diocese of Cleveland took over operations of St. Peter Chanel. It is one of eight diocesan run high schools in Cleveland.

In the 1985-86 school year, St. Peter Chanel announced it was going co-educational, which would take place the following year.

In 1994, The Marist Fathers left St. Peter Chanel due to lack of vocations and they were replaced for a short time by the Sisters of Notre Dame Cleveland Province.

In 2005, St Peter Chanel completed a $300,000 wrestling/weight room facility

Today St. Peter Chanel is governed by an all lay staff.

St. Peter Chanel HS was designed by Cleveland's George W. Stickle and associates. The School is a steel structure with an ashlar limestone brick pattern.

St. Peter Chanel's gym can hold an estimated 2400-3000 people..

St. Peter Chanel HS is the first High school in North East Ohio to have a close circuit, student run television studio. The studio was established in 1962.
