[edit] History

St Nicholas Catholic High School 0pened as a Secondary Modern on the 6th of September 1965[1] with Mr Michael O'Connor as the first head teacher, and Fr. R Verlarde as the first Chairman of Governors. St Nicholas' was the first Catholic secondary school in mid-Cheshire, and cost £160,000 for the initial building programme, 70% of which came from the Catholic communities in mid-Cheshire, with the remainder coming from the LEA.

In 1972 the school became a Comprehensive school, and changed its name to St Nicholas High School.[1] At this time a new science and languages block was built to the side of the original building, and in 1979 the new Sixth Form block was opened by Mr Mark Carlisle, Secretary of State for education, followed by the remodelled science laboratories in 1989, and the music suite and new science laboratories in 1992.

In 1995 Mr O'Connor retired after 30 years as headmaster, and was replaced by Mr Gerald Boyle.[1] In 2003 the school obtained Business and Enterprise status.
