From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Coordinates: 50°43′23″N, 3°31′02″W St Luke's is a small university capmus which is part of the University of Exeter. The school of Sport and Health Sciences, Education and Life Long Learning and the Peninsula Medical school are all based at St Luke's.

St. Luke's is also home to the Children's Health and Exercise Reasearch Centre (CHEREC). The Centre, part of the School of Sport and Health Sciences, was awarded the Queen's Anniversary Prize for higher education in recognition of its eminence in paediatric physiology. This made CHEREC the first receiver of the award in sport science research.

In 2006 it was announced that the University was considering closing the campus. A decision will be made in 2007 when the results of a feasibility study are reported back to the University.[citation needed]

[edit] Students Guild on St. Luke's

The views of St. Luke's students are represented by the Vice President of the Student Guild, currently Peter Grayson.

The Students Guild run an information point/desk in Cross Keys on St. Luke's.

Cross Keys is the on campus bar and eating area. On Friday evenings it hosts the St. Luke's Bop, a cheesy school disco style event in which students dance to rubbish music and drink gallons of the famous 'snakebite and black'.

[edit] Second World War Bomb Damage

St Luke's unfortunately suffered a direct hit during a Nazi bombing raid on Exeter. Destroying a large part of the original building. The stone work has been rebuilt and is clearly visible due to a change in the colouring of the brick work.
