[edit] History
Anglican services in Colquitt County began in 1912, at the town Presbyterian church. In 1919 construction of a church building was begun by Rev. R.C.Shannonhouse. Money was raised and a lot purchased. The ground breaking for the new church took place on December 5, 1922. The church wasn't completed until September of 1923. [1]
In May of 1946, St. John's formally became a mission church in the Diocese of Georgia, with Rev. John Saxon-Wolfe as the first vicar. St. John's was made a parish in May of 1958. Rev. Kenneth Gearhart was named as the first rector. [2]
St. John's uses the 1979 Book of Common Prayer for all its worship. It's present rector is the Rev. Gary Wilde.
