St. Francis High School College Preparatory, also known as St. Francis High School or SFHS amongst its students and faculty, is a co-educational Catholic secondary school located in Wheaton, Illinois and was founded in 1956 by the Augustinian order. It is currently operated by the Diocese of Joliet. St. Francis, as one can tell from the name, strives to prepare its students for college, and thus sets high academic standards. The school is relatively small compared to other high schools in the area. That, and the fact that the admissions process requires an incoming freshman to have average grades or better, means that the admissions process can be somewhat selective. St. Francis has had a good record of success in allowing its students to achieve high potential, with 83% of its 2006 senior class going on to college, with students earning a combined $8.1 million in scholarships. St. Francis is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
The St. Francis varsity girls' volleyball team was nationally ranked in 2006. On November 11, 2006, St. Francis won the Illinois Double A state championship 25-18 in both sets. They are also the only program to ever win both single-A and double-A championships in girls' varsity volleyball. [1]
