St. Frances Cabrini Elementary
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Elementary is a Catholic elementary school in the Gentilly section of New Orleans. Because of extensive flooding and damage caused by Hurricane Katrina, the New Orleans Catholic Archdiocese has sold the property to Holy Cross High School.
The school shares the site with Redeemer-Seton High School and St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Church. Both entities are slated for demolition. Although the church building on the site is slated for demolition, preservationists have argued that it is a significant example of mid 20th century architecture and worth saving and restoration. The Gentilly neighborhood surrounding both schools and the church remains abandoned.
