The St. Catharines municipal election of 1997 was held to elect a mayor and councillors for the city of St. Catharines, Ontario.

- Tom Derreck has worked as a city clerk in St. Catharines. He has written on the history of slavery in Canada in the journal The Beaver (magazine),[1] and contributed to the movie, "Blacks Fighting the Confederacy"[2].
