From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

St. Augustine’s High School was founded and is run by the Christian Brothers in Vasai, India. The medium of instruction is English and is an all boys school, with students from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

The school was started in the early 1970's, when Vasai was a beautiful place with simple people who did not care much about education. The school was started to promote quality education and learning among the people. However, it is surprising and interesting to know how well the school has performed during the past years.

The school is open from 7.00am to 1.00pm. The strength of the school is about 2000 students with a large distinguished faculty and staff . As per the Indian schooling standards, it runs from Kindergarten to the 10th grade (S.S.C)

The school has proved its excellence in helping students bring about an overall development in their personality and behavior. Subjects such as Maths,Science, History, Geography, Sports, Arts, etc are a part of the entire syllabus.

It has constantly strived to keep up to the changing world and technology, which is evident from the better computer and science laboratories in the school. The library has a good collection of books and research materials.

With high teaching standards, it is considered to be one of the best schools in the Mumbai suburbs and/or the Vasai belt. The faculty is highly experienced, and students feel free to communicate their issues and difficulties with them.

The school has performed exceptionally well in sport activities too. It has a very good soccer and cricket team, which has its name in papers frequently. Apart from studies, there are extra curricular activities that take place in the school very often. Things like science exhibitions, quizzes, different competitions etc make a part of the school. Sports have always been given a priority for the benefit of the students.

Moreover the school is popular for its large playground, which is being used to host several important events, meetings and formal occasions.

One of the largely acclaimed event for the school was the visit of Pope John Paul II in the year 1985/86. The Pope landed in the school and gave his speech in the local language of the town/state which is Marathi.

One of the many things, that makes this school special is that it appreciates the hardwork and efforts of every student, in whatever they do. The success of the school eventually lies in the success of its students, who have grown up to become engineers, doctors, business professionals, teachers etc in their own special fields.
