[edit] Marc Summers

I deleted the line you added about his being "rumored" to be the next host of The Price is Right. I don't even think there are any real rumors about Bob's successor, not to mention actual decisions. If you have a citation from something substantial, feel free to revert me. Otherwise, please don't add speculative stuff like this. SFT | Talk 08:16, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

I removed the text you added to Gillig as it seems to be taken from http://www.geocities.com/gilligcoaches/GilligHistory.html. Please see Wikipedia:Spotting possible copyright violations. WideArc 21:52, 27 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] WWE RAW

It's just that it's not notable enought to be mentioned because as you even admitted, RAW has been in other arenas that hosted RAW. It's also already noted on the Trump Plaza article. TJ Spyke 05:39, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

Articles on Wikipedia are supposed to be written with the future in mind. In a week or two it won't matter that RAW was at the Trump Plaza tonight. TJ Spyke 05:49, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Dan Lewis - KOMO news anchor

(Srosenow 98 wrote to Bezapt): I can partly see where you're coming from, but as a former reporter myself (some freelance work for KOMO TV's weather department in the late '90s), I can firmly say that the use of "news presenter" is not a term used in the United States. I think that if you're going to write an article about an American journalist, you should refer to them as they would be in American terms.... *snip*... Srosenow 98 05:55, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi Srosenow 98, My reasons for editing your edit were twofold:

  1. the actual article title for the subject is News presenter, so I chose that as a middle ground between my preferred term and yours, since it is consistent with the Wikipedia article's title; and
  2. to make Lewis's job more readily recognisable to an international readership. In many countries outside the USA, "anchor" will usually refer to an item used to help secure a boat (or other object) in place. To my Commonwealth English mind, describing a person as a heavy object seems vaguely impolite (particularly with obesity being such a hot topic these days!) and I had to shift mental gears to recall I've occasionally heard the word used in the context of "newsreader" in some news broadcasts originating from the US.

I respect your point that the article is about a US person & therefore a US-term would be reasonable.. hey, I use the same justification when Americanisms are applied to articles on British Commonwealth concepts which possess their own nomenclature. Given your close familiarity with local practice not only in the US but at KOMO, if you want to revert my edit, then I will politely stand back! Best regards, Bezapt 11:20, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WWE RAW TitanTron

"Referenced or not". Incorrect. All material on Wikipedia that states claims such as " over six stories high ", "platform is over fifteen feet high alone", "entire setup is over 100 feet in width", and "roughly five by eight feet", must be referenced. If this information that you contributed was based on your own personal assumptions then it has no place on Wikipedia. Please see the official Wikipedia policy, Wikipedia:No original research. If reliable sources can be provided that confirm the measurements of the stage, then the information can be added. I hope this clears up any misunderstandings. -- bulletproof 3:16 16:22, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:MattMcCoy St Helens titlescreen.JPG)

Thanks for uploading Image:MattMcCoy St Helens titlescreen.JPG. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. If the image is usable and is an inline link rather then the actual image being displayed, you can add the not orphan template to the image page. Have a look at the image page and in the red notice box it lists the not orphan template. I think the use you have it for is a valid use (though I am not an expert in fair use claims). You need to add the link back into the article.--Gay Cdn (talk) (email) (Contr.) 12:36, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] orphaned images

If you add the images to an article as a link, they do not show up on the image page as being linked. The section on each image page at the bottom shows where it is linked as an actual image rather then just a link.

To show the image is used and not orphaned, you need to add the not orphan template to the image page. Here is the text from the image deletion notice "If this image is being used as a link target instead of displayed inline, please add {{not orphan|article name}} to this page to prevent it being accidentally marked as orphaned again."

Have a look at the Matt image page where I did this last time. You should add this non orphan template and remove the deletion template to the two news images. If you have any other questions, please let me know.--Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr.) 16:49, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

Oops. This was my bad, the bot was looking for 'notorphan' but not 'not orphan', this has been fixed so you shouldn't get any more messages. BJTalk 15:21, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
