[edit] Take heart

Hi Kris, I feel really sad that you have to endure what you're going through. Please take heart. Wikipedia is a community of million plus human beings and there are bound to be 'nuts' roaming around. I dont know which 'nut' you may have bumped into, causing you so much distress, but I also keep bumping into such people on wikipedia. Any time we come across such people, far from losing heart, we should resolve to weed out such people and protect the fair name and purpose of wikipedia. Letting such people get under your skin will only be playing straight into their hands. I request you to make a conscious effort not to let such 'nuts' bother you and to return with renewed vigor and purpose. Wikipedia sorely needs and deserves more editors like you and less of the nuts. Sarvagnya 20:27, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

I hope you come back, it was nice working with you on WP:HINDU. The point is to build a hammer and crack the nuts.Bakaman 04:26, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
I agree while or paths haven't crossed as of yet, your shining light glows from your generosity and your great work. Cheers and good luck wherever you are. — Seadog 20:56, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Parthi

Hey This guy Venu/Parthi is screwing Carnatic page up. Do something.

Thanks ~rAGU —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Raguks (talkcontribs) 09:03, 17 December 2006 (UTC).

[edit] Thank you

Thank you for the welcome. I joined the sub-group Wikiproject Indian History and I hope to be of service with my limited knowledge. Kris, you're an admin and an Indian (I'm pretty sure on both, at least). Is there a chance you can look at this[[1]] and put it on your watchlist? I feel like things are starting to degenerate, particularly the "Buddies of Satan" comment, and the "incompetent" comment. I would appreciate it. Sincerely, NinaEliza (talk contribs logs) 16:30, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks Kris, I appreciate it. I also hope you're well and happy. NinaEliza (talk contribs logs) 23:54, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hi Srkris

I read over the article and the improvement in tone and copy are vast compared to the version I came to. Tigeroo's suggestion on the talk page is a good one. I'm glad I left - I obviously wasn't helping:).Nina Odell 17:15, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

I don't know about the links being added by the anon but removing the indic font on the chola king was vandalism.I basically reverted the edit. I don't think there's enough to make an admin do something about it.--D-Boy 14:14, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Don't remove warnings

You have removed several user warning templates from your user or user talk page. These warnings are not put on your talk page to annoy you; they were placed here because other editors have noticed an issue with your behaviour that may require improvement. They are a method of communication and user talk pages stand as a record of communication with you. If you do not believe the warning was valid or have a question about improving your behaviour you can respond here or visit the help desk. If your talk page is becoming long, you can archive it in accordance with the guidelines laid out here How to archive a talk page. Thank you. - Parthi talk/contribs 03:30, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject India Newsletter: Volume II, Issue 1 - January 2007

Project News
  • Project tagging:After a brief edit war over the addition of {{WP India}} to ancient archaeological sites now located in Pakistan, a "pre" parameter was introduced to remove the ROI flag from the template for pre-1947 articles, following discussion. After another large discussion on ANI alleging that the automated tagging by Ganeshbot and LostBot was "nationalistic", Ganeshbot was briefly blocked. Currently, the bots are again in action.
  • Swastika on Hinduism templates:Recently, an extremely large and at times emotional debate broke out regarding the use of the swastika on Hinduism templates, given its association with Nazism. As a result, {{Hindu Links}} now contains an educational message about the use of the swastika, as discussion on a more permanent resolution continues.

[edit] WikiProject India Newsletter: Volume II, Issue 2 - March 2007

Project News
  • Jimbo's visit to India and the WikiCamp in Chennai: Jimbo recently visited India in late February and early March on wiki work. This included a trip to a WikiCamp in Chennai. The one day conference attracted 300 participants from across India and beyond dealt with issues facing wikis ([3]). It was widely covered by the press, eg The Hindu( [4]), which cited the efforts of Bhadani (edit count), Sundar (leadership on Tamil Wikipedia) and Ganeshk (Creation of Ganeshbot to create articles on Indian towns from census figures). Ganeshk himself travelled from California to attend the conference.
  • Wikipedia Weekly 15: Wikipedia Weekly, a informal Wikipedians' program that purports to give "A weekly audio roundup of Wikipedia happenings with news, interviews and roundtable discussions" recently interviewed two prominent editors Rama's Arrow and Ragib(listen). The entire 34 minute interview was entirely about the world of Indian subcontinent wiki-happenings, and was the first episode which was not entirely dominated by discussion of wiki-politics and wiki-bureaucracy, with the host Witty lama praising the efficiency of the project and its proliferation of featured content. Rama's Arrow cited the team spirit, friendship and respect among project members in discussing its success and FA productivity, as well as discussing subcontinental wiki-conflict. Ragib talked also of his public campaign to raise awareness of the Bengali Wikipedia in his native Bangladesh, which has seen a 30-fold increase in article count over the past year.
