[edit] Hoax?

It's evident that the original author of the article and the editor who tagged the article as a {{hoax}} have many disagreements. What's not clear is how this article is a hoax. When tagging an article as a hoax, it's helpful to other editors to add an explanation. Taunts like "this is an encyclopaedia not a dinner table where you can get away with these nonsense" are not helpful to anyone. -- Shunpiker 04:00, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

What this is OR not Hoax, Ive tagged it myself. Potential and serial misuse of tags when in edit conflict only leads a trail of evidence that can be used later, infact the edit summary makes it even better. I think it may be time to consult an admin over this. Thanks RaveenS 17:58, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Indeed

The following is utterly nonsense and can be easily put it to the dustbin.Meaning Sinhalese are stupid and are only good for eating Kavun, a popular side dish. In reality the poem is urging the Sinhalese get smarter viz a vie the Jaffna Tamils. It is used in opposition to the popular slur of Para Demala or foreign Tamil, used by the Sinhalese against any ethnic Tamil

why ??

  • Proverb has nothing to do with tamils
  • para demala is not used against any tamil

I think this will help you Iwazaki 会話。討論 04:37, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

Look at [1],[2],[3] just for beginers, Para Demala is typical negative slang word used to denote Tamils by the Sinhalese people. infact if we can get a mirror of this now defunct site Sinhala slang it will even be betterAlso the venerable and reputable source of many wikipedins the Asiatribune mentions it in its edit reviewed article [4] google search yields these [5] the variant Para Demulu yields this and google search yields [6]. This is quote fromone of the sources
They may not have been quite the para demalu to which capacity we, the Sinhalese, consign the Tamils,"

[7] Those who understand Sinhala language such as myself can easily read most of the comments in the seraches and it is not benign. This article is not about Para Demulu but this is just to show the reason why hoax tag was used wrongly. Thanks RaveenS 20:23, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

No need to look at those, I exactly know what I am talking about..The problem lies with you, and may be your incomplete understanding of Sinhalese language..The word para demala is not used to describe any tamil, its utterly nonsense to say that..period.Ohh, how about that kavum joke ? Sad we are writing an encyclopedia , not a bloopers book, otherwise I would have given you full credit for bringing laughter to many Sri Lankans.Iwazaki 会話。討論 00:44, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
