Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) is the leading degree awarding institute in Sri Lanka in the field of Information Technology, recognized by the University Grants Commission under the Universities Act. The SLIIT was established in 1999 to educate and train information technology professionals required by the fast growing IT industry in Sri Lanka.

The Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology has expanded its IT education from Colombo and its suburbs to various other parts of the Sri Lanka, including Kamburupitiya, Kandy and Matara, making the SLIIT accessible in 5 locations throughout Sri Lanka.

SLIIT has built its partnerships with many Australian Universities including Curtin University of Technology, Australia. SLIIT is a partner of ConceptNursery.com, Sri Lanka Technology Incubator. SLIIT also has affiliations with CIMA and Uppsala University in Sweden Recently SLIIT signed agreement with Sheffield Hallam university in United Kingdom, RMIT in Australia and Swinburne in Australia universities as well as 3 others.

SLIIT conducts four B.Sc.(Hons)& B.Sc. degree programmes for undergraduate students. The B.Sc Special Honours Degree programme is of 4 years' duration with two semesters per year and Masters Programmes. Courses are offered in many specializing fields from four departments.

To be a Center of Excellence to advance and disseminate knowledge, foster and promote innovation and produce world-class intellectuals in the field of Information and Communication technologies to best serve the nation and beyond.

SLIIT MISSION

To ensure that Sri Lanka profits from Information Technology, by providing education and training, conducting and promoting research and development, provide consultancy and software services, nurturing IT ventures, thus ensuring the availability of a rich pool of experts in IT.

SLIIT OBJECTIVES

  • Education and training of IT Professionals at a high level of excellence
  • Provision of IT consultancy services and software services to the public sector and private sector of Sri Lanka at reasonable cost.
  • Conduct and promotion of research and development in IT leading to: specialized applications, services and innovative IT products.
  • Ensuring the availability of a rich pool of experts in IT within the country

Professional Courses

SLIIT conducts the Cisco Network Academy courses (CCNA,CCNP) under the only regional Cisco Network Academy in Sri Lanka. SLIIT is currently the only Microsoft Academy in Sri Lanka offering several Certification Courses.
