Serbs partizans had declared that on June 27th, 1941, during World War II, Srb was the location of the first armed conflict between the newly-formed Partisans and the Ustaše in the Independent State of Croatia. This day was declared as the first armed conflict on the territory of Croatia only because Serbs were involved. However, Croatian Ustaše troops weren't even near the area because it was in the then "Italian zone", where no Croat troops were given permission to stay.

During the Croatian Operation Storm, Srb was part of the Republic of Serbian Krajina.
