Squash at the 2006 Commonwealth Games

The Squash at the 2006 Commonwealth Games was played for the most part at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Center. Singles play took place from March 16 to 20 (Men's and Women's), and the doubles was contested from March 21 to 26 (Men's, Women's, and Mixed).

A high number of multiple entries by countries in the doubles events occurred because players could enter both the men's or women's events as well as the mixed doubles, and countries could put in as many entries as they chose to, as long as their players were in one the singles events. The most medals one player could possibly win at the Games was three: one in singles, one in men's or women's doubles, and one in mixed. Australians David Palmer, Rachael Grinham and Natalie Grinham all achieved this feat, with Natalie Grinham winning three gold medals. She was the first competitor ever to win three gold medals in squash at a single Commonwealth Games.

Gold:Peter Nicol (4) (England)	Silver: David Palmer (1) (Australia)	Bronze: Lee Beachill (5) (England)

Nicol won his second Commonwealth Games gold, adding to is 1998 title. He beat Palmer three games to one, in 108 mins. Beachill defeated Nick Matthew for the bronze.

The Grinham sisters played a tough final, with favoured Rachael bowing down to sister Natalie three games to one in 49 mintes. Kitchen defeated No. 1 seed Nicol David of Malaysia for bronze.

Nicol and Beachll won a four-game final in 143 minutes, giving Nicol his second gold of the games to go along with his singles, and Beachill took his second medal and winning a broze in the men's singles.

The Grinham's became the first sister team to win a doubles gold in history, at the Commonwealth Games. They dropped the first game 1-9, but quickly recovered to win the next three games, and the match, 3 games to one.

Natalie Grinham won a gold medal in all three events entered, singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. Grinham and Kniepp beat Botwright and Willstrop in a four-game, 60-minute final.
