Squarez Deluxe
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Squarez Deluxe is a computer puzzle game invented by Adam Pedersen (creator of Jetpack) and published by Adept Software in 1992. The game has some similarity to Tetris, but instead of lines, the blocks to be removed are packed in 3x3 squares.
[edit] Gameplay Detail
In Tetris, the blocks fall down, and you move them to the left and right and rotate them to try and create a solid line across the board. In Squarez Deluxe, however, you move the blocks in two directions, and try to create 3x3 squares (or, if possible, 4x4 squares). Only a limited amount of time is allowed to place each block.
What has been described so far is only the Basic mode of play for Squarez Deluxe. The more advanced modes of play (Intermediate and Extreme) feature different types of little squarez embedded in the block. The squarez do special things when they are part of a 3x3 square you form, such as making bombs, rockets, or puddles of acid that dissolve squarez. Or, nasty things such as creating indestructible blocks.
The game ends when there is no place for any more blocks.
Two players can play simultaneously, each on half of the screen, the winner being the one who lasts longest. Certain squarez move the border between the two screens to either side; thus, it is possible to cramp the other player by moving the border all the way in his direction.
