[edit] Government spyware
A while (maybe a year) ago there was some move afoot for governments (I heard the US government, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't others too) to "request" the authors malware-detection programs to silently ignore the keylogger (etc.) programs that said governments would like to use on the machines of "bad people". As Spybot appears to be a donation-only one-man outfit (unlike some of the others, which are proper businesses selling "professional" editions), I wonder if he's said whether or not he'll comply. Anyone know? -- Finlay McWalter | Talk 23:41, 2 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Sounds like a conspiracy theory to me.
- Spybot/Safer Networking Ltd. is not a one-man outfit - even without the voluntary helpers, what is shown in their Gallery is less than half the staff. The government software mentioned is probably the thing that is sometimes named "Magic Lantern", and Team Spybot would gladly add it if they would get samples of it.
- Doubt a german would give into such a request by the US gov.--Andeee 12:53, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Forum Does not exist.
I tried going to the forum but they don't exist so i have removed the link on the forums
- It's currently offline, I edited it back in. --Denniss 10:39, 25 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Winfixer
Does spybot do a good job of getting rid of the winfixer adware, i tried it out and it said it deleted it but the thing still pops up. (Brodey)
I have the same problem, I'm scanning now, I can give you an answer about an hour later. Nyiz 23:30, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- update: It deleted from my PC and shows no more popup! But I got ErrorSafe, not WinFixer, but I think it's the same. I now it's a cliché, but get the latest version, with the latest definition archive. It'll help you.... I hope. Nyiz 23:36, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] net-integration.net gone?
Is net-integration.net, one of the main (official?) support sites for Spybot gone for good? Does anyone know what happened to it? --NEMT 05:09, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] TeaTimer?!
The article has no info on this important feature. --Espoo 09:53, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Award Years?
All reports of awards to such programs should include at least the last year for each award. These things are in constant flux, and an old award would be of limited relevance, other than historical. 68.236.103.195 15:07, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Spybot S&D vs. Symantec
Shouldn't something be said about this? Solidsnake204 21:58, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
- What's the problem with those two ? --Denniss 13:06, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
- (belatedly) Symantec products have, on multiple occasions, reportedly detected Spybot S&D or portions thereof as various malicious software. I personally never saw a report of it other than on Spybot's homepage. Of course, I never looked either. Kisc 16:25, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
