[edit] Missions

There are 10 preset missions included in the spybotics software. 5 of them are for 1 spybot alone, the other 5 are for 2 spybots. The missions contain a Mission brief:A short video of the "real" situation, Mission set-up:How to set up the mission, Mission settings:Settings to make the mission easier or harder, and the Mission board:A top-10 board.

[edit] Laser Maze

Spybots needed:1
In this mission, the spybot has been lured, by bank robbers, to a booby trapped factory. Your job is to get the spybot out of the maze so you can capture the thieves. There is one small problem, though, you see, a gridwork of randomly generated laser beams criscrosses the entire factory. These lasers are both invisible to the naked eye, and can cut into the "armor" of the spybot. If the spybot crosses the path of any beam, it will quickly suffer a power drain. The spybot, however, can "see" the beams. So you must follow it's signals. The spybot uses its arc lights to "tell" you the direction in which you need to turn. If you make it to the end of the factory (a light source) with energy still remaining, you win.

[edit] The Mole

Spybots needed:2
People:1 or 2
In this mission, a rival spybot has stolen some top secret files, and is uploading them to the rival's base. You manage to stop the spybot in mid transfer, but capture only half of the files. You need to capture the remaining files before the spybot can upload them to the secret databanks again. You must keep in mind, though, that the rival spybot can also attempt to steal your files as well, and each spybot needs "processing" time before the next attempted can be made. (If there are two people, the rival robot, instead of being controlled automatically, will be controlled by the 2nd person

[edit] Robot Rescue

Location:Ventilation Shaft
Spybots:2
People:1

In this mission, an attempt to investigate an energy drain has failed, and left a Spybot stranded with no power. You must get to the

spybot and recharge it, remembering that the energy drain can also deplete your own reserves, and that you will lose energy as you transfer it. How ever, you may recharge at home base any time your energy is low. Once you sufficiently recharge the stranded robot, it will follow you back to home base, and restore its remaining depleted energy there.

[edit] X-Factor

Location:Gem Mine
Spybots:1
People:2

Time to go underground. Your mission is to search through a mine, and collect all the fire gems within it, as all spybots are powered by a substance called X-Factor, which is an extract of fire gems (or can be obtained via normal household batteries). You'll have to be careful, though, because the mine is highly guarded by security system. If you are detected, a firebeam will lock on to your spybot, and drain it of energy. Dodge the fire beam, collect the X-Factor, and get to the mine lift when it arrives; and all will be safe and secure.

[edit] Programming

The Spybot can also be programmed using most of the methods available for Lego Mindstorms products, making it a good, inexpensive, and easy to program beginners robot. It can be programmed with the latest version of the Mindstorms SDK (2.5) or with NQC.

[edit] Spybots

Spybots are robots that are used in spybotics. They are made out of Lego technic pieces. They each come with:

  • 2 Fiber optic cables, one to sense light, the other to bring light to a "laser"
  • 1 Main hub
  • Pieces to build the type of spybot
  • 1 CD-ROM (instructions on the CD)
  • 1 controller.
