A personal attack eh? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 7pac (talkcontribs).

Replied on your talk page. If you have questions about Wikipedia or comments other than things like "well fuck you" we can discuss. -SpuriousQ (talk) 01:52, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Barely, but you have no knowledge of the topic, what gives you the right to intrude on someone elses privacy in the way you just did? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 7pac (talkcontribs).

I have no idea how tagging an article for deletion and informing you why can be construed as a violation of privacy. It doesn't matter whether I don't know the person, the article is clearly mocking him and does not assert his notability. -SpuriousQ (talk) 01:54, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Well, in that case you are obviously a Chuck. How did you come across the article in the first place? Are you some sort of person with no life who spends their time surfing random Wikipedia articles trying to keep them up to standard? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 7pac (talkcontribs) 01:57, 16 March 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Notability

Prior to your citing it and prior to your graciously giving me a link to the article which I had already read, I was aware of the "Notability" article.

Where I am completely miffed is this:

Why are obscure companies considered "Notable" while the largest company in an industry not considered "Notible?" I don't understand at all what appears to be a purely subjective standard guised in a package trying to give it objectivity?

The article on Addicted To Rubber Stamps was deleted. I coudl understand a need or desire to write it differently or in other styles. But the article did, after all, meet the published standards of the Wikipedia.

Meanwhile, many other companies of far less notability are int he Wikipedia. Why the discrepancy is a mystery, unless perhaps a bribe is involved.

Forgive my caustic response, but it is appropriate considering your "Attila the hun" brevity.

Perhaps a little more presumption that people are trying to "do good" and perhaps need to be "invited into the club" would serve your purposes more than a brutal handling of them. That is, it IS POSSIBLE that new contributors such as myself actually desire to provide the sort of content that you wish if only we could have a few GENTLE nudges in the correct direction.

Yes, I'm frustrated. But then, you would be if handled the way I have been.

[edit] Art Stamps

Some things are not worth the exhaustion of fighting an immovable, obstinate organization (or editor.)

My point was NOT related to the fact that an Art Stamps link is needed to point to Addicted To Rubber Stamps. I can understand how you coudl come to that conclusion given only a cursory reading and a desire to move through materials quantitatively rather than qualitatively.

My point was that there are a million people who engage in the craft of "Art Stamps" and that there should be a link to Rubber Stamps and then intot he "Rubber Stamps as an Art form." Indeed, THAT is where I linked, with Addicted To Rubber Stamps being clearly a secondary, distanced, offset, and separate link.

I don't care especially about the link to Addicted To Rubber Stamps. But there should be an Art Stamps link to Rubber Stamps. They are similar ONLY to those who are oblivious to the art stamp hobby. As I mentioned, Art Stampers use Rubber Stamps and talk about Art Stamps.

It's not worth fighting. There are limits to how much energy one shoudl have to put into something like this. And, I well know that an obstinate, closed minded, or simply over-worked editor has every vested interest in seeing that what very little they produce is of high quality, rather than risking a single error on rare ovvasion for a product which is of higher quality in the macro sense.

Fine. Delete the Art Stamp link. I know the difference. Art Stampers know the difference. Wikipedians don't and that's not my problem.

[edit] Art Stamps

Perhaps this part was unclear. Therefore I am re-submitting it again without a word being changed, in the hopes that it is more clear now when read a second time...

There is a need for an "Art Stamps" page. I created this page from scratch. Whrther the external links are permissible or not is a valid discussion, but the "Art Stamps" page should still be allowed to refer readers to Rubber Stamps.

Note that Art Stampers are somewhat disinfranchised from the business-side of rubber stamping, and this should possibly be a consideration. That is, few art stampers think much about or are very interested in "office stamps." This is because office stamps are largely utilitarian while art stamps are a pure art form.

Ultimately, the section under rubber stamps that deals with "Rubber Stamps as an Art Form" may be best rellocated to the Art Stamps page, as the discussion of art stamping is itself a lengthy and illustrious topic. The techniques, process of using stamps, and finished products are only related to office stamps int he most remote of ways.

The link to Addicted To Rubber Stamps may not meet your guidelines. I don't know as I am new to editing articles.

But I will assert that they are a very special company--not just another online store. They are utterly in a league by themselves, and they lead the industry in many ways. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kovanen (talkcontribs) 20:26, 18 March 2007 (UTC).

Hi Kovanen. I can see you are upset, and that's understandable. But please try to relax a bit and bring down the accusatory (and dramatic) tone. Everyone here is just a volunteer and you will find their willingness to help you is directly related to how nice you are to them.
Please note that I am an editor just like you, I have no powers to delete articles or even view deleted articles. You state that "the article on Addicted To Rubber Stamps was deleted". I can't find this in the deletion log. So I think you are instead referring to the Art stamps article. As I told you before, I was not the person who proposed Art stamps for deletion. And of course, I was not the person who deleted it. That was User:Seraphimblade, who gave the reason as: "G11, blatant ad". If you want to discuss this action, talk to that user.
If there was, in fact, an Addicted to Rubber Stamps article (I possibly can't find it because of different capitalization), I never saw it and certainly had nothing to do with its deletion. Again, see WP:N and also WP:CORP for a better understanding of which articles get deleted and which ones stay. If the company is as notable as you say it is, I'm sure you could write an article that conforms to those guidelines. The fact that an article was deleted does not mean the company itself is non-notable, it just means the article failed to demonstrate its notability. -SpuriousQ (talk) 23:55, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bob Justin

Hi. I was wondering if we could chat about an article you visited and talked to me about a while ago by the above Title. Its a bio on an artist. You visited a while back and had a question about copyright that we resolved (there wasnt a problem). At the time you noted that the article and another you were talking about were clearly in line with WP BIO requirements. Earlier Merope had also been satisfied with notability issues, per my talk page. Now, months later, Jeepday comes along and deletes the article saying its an ad and not a notable person! I have written him and he is ignoring the response and will not undelete. Is there anyway to get this resolved and for GOOD? I am rather sick and tired and frustrated in having my posts be deleted time and time again and having to constantly defend them against every new comer! Heck even a Doctoral Dissertation only has to be defended until its approved! I put an hours or more work into each of these articles, and have had to defend most of them once or twice or more. Is there no way to put a final seal of approval on something that keeps the jackals at bay? How the heck do people get anything done? Whats the motivation to post an article when it means hours of follow up? I came into this project an eager beaver and have been beaten down to wanting to bail on it totally. Can you get that deletion undone and give me a clue as to how to avoid such hassles in the future? Clearly sticking to the guidelines is not enough, this article was supported by newspapers, books and museums! Whats a guy to do? I would really like to go on participating in what SHOULD be an cultural shifting project that lasts generations, but see no point in it if its just drawing in sand! Thanks - Yelloone

Hi Yelloone, sorry to see you're getting frustrated. I'm not a sysop and have no ability to undelete articles, and to be honest I don't remember what the article looked like. User:Jeepday did not actually delete Bob Justin; he just tagged it for speedy deletion and the admin User:Steel359 deleted it, with the reason: CSD G11 advertisement (you can see this in the deletion log). Try discussing this matter with Steel; he has the ability to view the deleted content and explain to you why he decided to delete it.
Note that Merope and I both seemed convinced that the subject of the article was notable per WP:BIO (given the links you provided), but I'm not certain the article itself clearly established notability, which may be why you are experiencing difficulties. -SpuriousQ (talk) 23:01, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks - Y1

[edit] Wiki Rules

Note: There is no rule requiring discussion before editing an article, etc. In fact, you probably violated the rules of reversion. If you think my edit is in error, please respond with a cited source, as I did. 14thArmored 02:18, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Guidelines are not the same as articles. You should not make a substantial change to a guideline without gaining consensus first. -SpuriousQ (talk) 02:23, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Addicted To Rubber Stamps

Yes, there was such an article and now it is gone. You have the name correct.

As for the "drama" all I can say is that it is usually the police officer, the librarian, or other forms of disciplinarians who ask for things to be calmed down. It is to their advantage, of course to assert their authority as a priority over listening for what is actually being said.

Now, as an editor I would think you would look for meaning and deal with the issues at hand, knowing conifently that in the end the truth prevails and that teh facts will sort themselves out once they are known.

So I would ask that you read my writings to you, look for the content, and then provide an informed response. That will both be calming and constructive...much more than ignoring the issues on the table, not helping, and merely asserting yourself. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 205.166.50.254 (talk • contribs).

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe you have the following grievances:
You are now asking for my help, so here is my advice. First, you must understand that if an article is deleted, it does not mean that there is no hope that a better article can be written and retained. You have given me some confidence that "Art stamps" and "Addicted to Rubber Stamps" are both notable topics worthy of an article. However, the articles you created about them were deemed to meet Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion by the admins above. Thus, I believe you should familiarize yourself with those criteria, and particularly G11, as that was the one invoked in the deletion of your articles.
Chances are, the deletions were appropriate. If you find you disagree, you can contact the administrators above to request a more detailed explanation of their decisions. In my opinion, though, the best route for you to take would be to create, for each of these topics, a solid, well-sourced article that clearly asserts the notability of the topic. You stated before you are familiar with Wikipedia's notability guidelines, so I trust you can do so. Be sure to draw from reliable sources and adhere to a neutral point of view.
From your comments, I feel you may have an inaccurate perception of my "position" here. I really—as I said before—am a regular editor just like you with no additional authority. I cannot undo the deletions, and I have no interest in rubber stamps, art stamps, or Addicted to Rubber Stamps; all I did was remove a blatantly promotional external link on Rubber stamps and write to you explaining my reasons. If you would like to contribute to Wikipedia about these topics, I've given you my advice and recommendations. You are free to take it or not. -SpuriousQ (talk) 06:38, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Elshan Moradi

Hi! Thanks for your note and sorry for the very late response. I was on a long wikibreak at the time! I fixed the intro part of the article. Check it out and see if it's a better way. His full name is Elshan Moradi Abadi ( الشن مرادی ابدی ). While he is widely know in Iran as Elshan Moradi ( الشن مرادی ), his name on official FIDE card is spelt as Elshan Moradiabadi.
