The spurfowls are the three species of bird in the genus Galloperdix of the pheasant family, Phasianidae.
These are ground nesting birds. Red Spurfowl and Painted Spurfowl occur in dry scrub-jungle in India, whilst Sri Lanka Spurfowl is endemic to forests in Sri Lanka.
Some species, like the Yellow-necked Spurfowl, have now been reclassified as Francolins.
