Spuckie is a term used in Italian immigrant neighborhoods of Boston for the bread loaf typically used to make a submarine sandwich. The term has fallen out of favor, replaced by "sub roll," since those neighborhoods -- East Boston and the North End -- have seen Italian Americans move on to the suburbs.
