Talk:Spring (computer game)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Spring webpage seems to favor TA Spring as the game's name (without the colon); failing that, wouldn't Total Annihilation Spring be a good way to avoid the namespace issue? It just seems like the name is not set in stone, therefore it might be easier to avoid the confusion with a less confusing name. -- nae'blis (talk) 23:46, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
- It isn't generally referred to as 'Total Anihilation Spring', so I don't think it is a good idea to have it referred to as that in this artical. Also, I believe that the other FF thing is being developed by Min3mat, if anybody sees him, then ask him and update if necessary.Darkcraft 11:31, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
Now that the game is called just "Spring", I propose to move the article to Spring (computer game). Any objections? --Conti|✉ 17:13, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
- I think that would be correct, however the main issue is that TA Spring is very unique and returns correct search results, and Spring is extremely vague. If it were moved, then TA Spring would still need to redirect to Spring (computer game). Cmsjustin 13:58, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Notability and encylopedic language
All articles must claim notability if not obvious. I'm sorry but it is not obvious to me. Note that I am not suggesting that the article be deleted at this time. I am suggesting that you fix some of the problems with this article so that nobody makes that suggestion. A better article that meets wikipedia inclusion guidelines will last. From Wikipedia:Notability (software) "Software is notable if it has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent of the company itself."--Nick Y. 23:37, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
- In the (dreadfully unfortunate) event that this article is deemed not notable enough, a spring section on Total_Annihilation could be created. Triggtay 19:40, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
- Fair enough, evidence of notability should be very easy to find. Spring is still more of an 'underground' type thing, but I believe it has been featured in several places. I also believe that this game is worthy of mention because it is a unique project. Creating an open-source graphically advanced alternative to an existing commercial game (and it's successor) has not been done many times before, certainly not this successfully or in-depth.Darkcraft 12:48, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
- Spring has been featured several times in print, some french gaming magazine and PC gamer UK I believe. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 89.98.140.58 (talk) 14:36, 2 February 2007 (UTC).
- I will endeavour to revise the Spring article when I have the requisite time, as I am familiar with the project and a skilled writer. Until then, I am Neddiedrow.--Neddiedrow 00:15, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Gameplay section
I've added a Gameplay section. If anyone thinks it's too much like a game guide or has too many wikilinks, let me know. :) - KingRaptor 09:56, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think this sort of addition is appropriate. The spring engine is no longer a TA remake but rather a full RTS engine. The section might be miss-leading in this respect despite the disclaimer at the beginning of the section and the engine's deep TA roots. It is rather selective to discuss only one of the many mods in development in the spring community such as Expand and Extreme, Kernel Panic, Nanoblobs, and Final Frontier to name a few. This brings me to a greater problem about the article as a whole as it leads to suggest that the engine is still a TA remake. Also, it does seem too much like a game guide :P - mrutter 18:25, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
