Spruce Harbour, Maine
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Spruce Harbour is a fictitious seaside town in the U.S. state of Maine and is the county seat of Spruce County. Located on the real Penobscot Bay, the town was created by surgeon/author H. Richard Hornberger as the setting of M*A*S*H Goes to Maine and M*A*S*H Mania, sequels to the bestselling M*A*S*H: A Novel About Three Army Doctors. Hornberger, a native of Maine, lived at nearby Waterville and created the town of Spruce Harbour to serve as a focal point for the characters of Hawkeye Pierce, Trapper John McIntyre et al. The town is described as having 30,000 residents, a large fish wharf, the Bay View Café (frequented by the protagonists), an International airport, and is home to the Finestkind Clinic and Fishmarket and Spuce Harbour General Hospital (all fictitious).
