Sprocket is a fictional character in the Marvel Comics Universe where she was primarily a pilot for the superhero team the New Warriors. Her first appearance was in Night Thrasher: Four Control #2. She is African American and presumably in her 40's.

[edit] Character history

Amelia Barnhardt aka Sprocket was an old friend of New Warriors mentor Andrew Chord from their days as mercenaries. When Andrew Chord needed extensive rehab after a self-inflicted gunshot wound Sprocket became Night Thrasher and the New Warriors new helicopter pilot. Her first mission was to fly the team to the war torn country of Trans-Sable. Sprocket would often smoke cigars, tote huge guns and shout profanities.

Sprocket once had a druken one night stand with fellow mercenary Donald Joshua Clendenon during a mission in Rhodesia. Josh left her with the bar tab the next day. The two would later meet again when Cardinal and his team Air Force hijacked a Taylor Foundation plane. Cardinal shot Sprocket in the knee before he and his team were defeated by Night Thrasher. Cardinal and Sprocket met again when Air Force was attacked by the Soldiers of Misfortune while on a relief mission in Africa. When Night Thrasher (Sprocket's boss) was kicked out of the New Warriors Sprocket quit being the New Warriors pilot shortly afterwards.

Sprocket became pregnant with Cardinal's daughter Valerie after their one night stand in Rhodesia. Sprocket chose not to tell Clendenon that she was pregnant and chose to raise Valerie alone. Sprocket enrolled Valerie in a military academy when she was six years old and when Valerie was 18 she joined the Air Force, eventually becoming a Lieutenent until she paralyzed her commanding officer who raped her. Valerie would eventually take the codename Meteorite and join the Redeemers to get a pardon for her crimes. Before she could does so she and several Redeemers were murdered by Graviton. According to a jailhouse conversation with Donald after Valerie's death, Amelia and Valerie hadn't spoken in three years.
