Sprenzy was founded in 2006 by Peter Koontz and former CNET/mySimon employee, Chuck Lai. Sprenzy is a privately-held startup based in San Francisco.

The Sprenzy website was built using Ruby on Rails. Sprenzy is a mashup using APIs from Shopping.com, Epinions.com and Amazon E-Commerce Service (ECS).

Sprenzy employs the traditional revenue model, pay per click advertising, used by most comparison shopping engines. Incremental revenue is generated by displaying sponsored text ads, provided by Google Adsense.
