[edit] Story summary

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

An extreme legal measure in the form of a lethal venom strikes down Knox, the current object of Winifred Burkle's affections. Forced to make a choice between letting Knox die or saving his life, Wesley deals with his own affections for Fred and their ramifications.

Although tempted to let Knox die, Wesley nonetheless sets out to cure him of his condition, and is able to do so with some help from Spike. Restored, Knox reunites with Fred as Wesley watches from afar.

SPIKE: "So what is it, then? You'd really rather be honorable than get what you want?"
WESLEY: "It's got nothing to do with honor, Spike. I just want her to be happy."
SPIKE: "And you're willin' to sacrifice your own happiness?."
WESLEY: "It's no sacrifice at all."

  • It is set during Angel Season 5.

[edit] Canonical issues

Main article: Buffyverse canon
Buffy/Angel comics such as this one are not usually considered by fans as canonical. Some fans consider them stories from the imaginations of authors and artists, while other fans consider them as taking place in an alternative fictional reality. However unlike fan fiction, overviews summarising their story, written early in the writing process, were 'approved' by both Fox and Joss Whedon (or his office), and the books were therefore later published as officially Buffy merchandise.
