Spotlight Television
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Spotlight Television Limited was one of four applicants for a proposed English language Canadian premium television service that was considered at a CRTC public hearing on October 24, 2005. [1] Controlled by George Burger and Larry Tanenbaum, it was intended to compete directly with the existing regional general-interest services, The Movie Network and Movie Central.
It was not affiliated with a now-defunct premium service known as Spotlight, which operated in a country outside Canada.
On May 18, 2006, it was announced that the Spotlight Television Limited application was rejected, as were applications from The Canadian Film Channel and BOOMTV. The only application approved was one from Allarco Entertainment. [2]
