Sport Stevenage
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sport Stevenage is an association of all the various bodies in the London Borough town of Stevenage that have an interest in the development of sport and active recreation.
This association or, partnership, was formed at the instigation of Sport England in order to provide a common system for sport across the country at district level. These were to be referred to as "Community Sports Networks".
Stevenage was selected to set up a pilot scheme in Hertfordshire, based on its unique experience for many years in promoting and acting as a voice for sport at local level in the voluntary sector - Stevenage Sports Council.
This voluntary sector then joined with Stevenage Borough Council, representatives of other authorities in education, health, youth, school sport and others to form a co-ordinated plan to improve the quality and increase the participation of sport in the town.
You can find a list of all these partners, their representatives, their policies and contribution to these aims by visiting their Web site: sportstevenage.co.uk. The Web site features a "club finder" providing a searchable directory for local sports clubs. Sport news articles of local interest and information about upcoming sport events are also posted on this Web site.
