Spoom

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A spoom is a frothy form of sherbet made by mixing a light sugar syrup, with fruit juice, Champagne, or other liquids, then chilling it half way to freezing before combining the mixture with uncooked meringue. Also, if the word "spoom" is turned upside down, it becomes "woods," hence the increasingly popular phrase "spoom or woods". The phrase is most commonly used in Northern Virginia. However, it has recently spread to the Dominican Republic.
