Splin (Russian: Сплин), sometimes spelled Splean[citation needed], is a popular Russian rock band. They were formed in 1993 and released their first album in 1994. For nearly twelve years, they have remained one of the most popular rock bands in Russia and the former Soviet Union.

The band was formed when lead singer Alexander Vasilyev, while working in at a theatrical institute, was introduced to keyboardist Nikolay Rostovsky. The two formed a band, and risking Vasilyev's job, began recording their first album "Pylnaya Byl" in one of the institute's studios at night. After release of Splin's second album the band moved to Moscow. Their growing popularity was also prowed by Boris Grebenshchikov's protection. Splin was continually blasting radio charts with songs like "Orbit Sugar Free", "New People", "Time Backwards", and "We Were Just Sitting and Smoking".

Despite the unstoppable rumours about the break-up situation of the group, Vasilyev and Co continue performing on different Russian and world stages. The members of the band changed during its career. The band was frequently experimenting, and the current Splin is quite different from themselves at the beginning of their career.

In 2004, the band has garnered some international attention for the inclusion of their song Be My Shadow ("Будь моей тенью") in Sergey Lukyanenko's bestselling novel, Night Watch. Splin was a headliner of 2005 Krylya Rock festival.

In 2005, the group started recording another album, which was released in February of 2007 as Split Personality ("Раздвоение личности"). Tell Her song and video rank high in radio and MTV charts.
