[edit] Spider-Girl's nickname
I realize that this may be a minor point, but I'd rather Spider-Girl were nicknamed "Spidette" since "Spidey" was her father's nickname. - R.G. 04:17, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- As far as I know, she's never called herself this, or been called this by anyone else, in the comic. --Galliaz 11:23, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Notable Powers
Currently her "Notable Powers" entry makes no reference to her webbing. - Joeyconnick 21:14, 2005 May 11 (UTC)
Two basic reasons for that:
- It's tech, not a power
- The superherobox "Notable Powers" is meant to be a short list, rather than complete..
Put a section in the text in addition to the box, if it bugs you :) - SoM 21:54, 11 May 2005 (UTC)
- Okay, that makes sense but then the superherobox should include tech/skills because that's all some characters have (i.e. Iron Man, Elektra):Joeyconnick 22:25, 2005 May 11 (UTC)
yeah your reasoning for it not being there wasnt a very good one — ChocolateRoses talk
I've added webshooters, cell phone, and spider-tracers to the "Powers and Abilities" section. It's not a power, but web-shooting is an ability, I guess. ; ) -- HKMARKS 03:10, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Change to Spider Girl (Marvel Comics) ?
I'd like to start an article about the Legion of Super-Villains character from DC Comics. Can the title of this article be changed to allow for this and to differentiate between the two characters? Korvac 17:27, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure that the LSH character has no hyphen. This one does.
- If I'm right, no, just do a dab link. If not, well, this one's more prominent and current, having her own title against the other one who hasn't even appeared anywhere in the past five/six years.... - SoM 19:38, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
I'm new at this - I apologise in advance for my ignorance. Let's say I start the hyphenless article on the LSH character. Would we then need a disambiguation page so Spider-Girl's admittedly much larger fanbase can go to the right page if they drop the hyphen? Korvac 21:45, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
- No just a (I paraphrase, it should be terser than this) This page refers to the DC Character, for the Marvel character who is the daughter of Spider-Man, see Spider-Girl notice at the top of the DC page and vice-versa. - SoM 22:47, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
-
- Just a follow-up to say that I followed your suggestion and set up a Spider Girl article. Thanks again! Korvac 17:40, 18 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] mutant
Has it ever been questioned that she was a mutant? Inheriting your powers from your parents wouldnt make you a mutant, in less they themselves were mutants. The mutant bit just seems out of place. Furthermore, the idea of mutants has been brought up before several times in her title, yet the idea of if she was a mutant or not hasnt been expressed. --DrBat 01:34, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah but that's if you take "mutant" by the Marvel definition of it as Homo Superior (or whatever theyre technically called). Taking it as meaning a genetically changed human she IS technically a mutation and so is a mutant. Therefore surely the mutant bit should be left in. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by ChocolateRoses 00:22, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
-
- I had always understood it to be that the children of superhumans who received their powers through scientific means often had their X-gene activated. --Chris Griswold 02:21, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
-
-
- Yeah marvel used to give excuses for the x-gene before the whole evolution thing. Like parents exposed to radiation... hmm, lets face it: With them using "evolution" plus marvel trying to keep the whole mutant thing away from the spider books i guess we can just assume that we shouldn't be calling her a mutant, however much it should seem that she is.

- Whether or not she's a mutant isn't the point. Wikipedia's guidelines make it clear that this is not a place for original research. Therefore, the Mutant Question section should be removed. Kaijan 21:22, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

It seems to me that the information in this recently added section would work better if it were condensed and incorporated into the section on SG's powers. --Galliaz 03:07, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
How is the book nowadays anyway? i collected for about 3 years early on then stopped. i wasnt a big fan of the supporting characters and the MC2 universe started to annoy me. Their avengers were rubbish. i really liked the buzz though... Anyway itsa shame i missed out on hobgoblin and the black spider suit (its the best one), but i might pick up some of those digests one day.. ChocolateRoses 00:22, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] spider-sense
"It gave him (spider-man) a seconds warning and only told him enough about the threat to know that being in a certain spot was unsafe. Spider-Girl's form of spider-sense, on the other hand, actually tells her the direction a threat is coming from and the nature of the threat. She can also use it to spot the weakness in an opponent and use it to her advantage." Even pre-other Spider-man's spider-sense was far more complicated than this and far more useful than implied. Where was this taken from as, quite frankly, i dont buy it? — ChocolateRoses talk
[edit] Ultimate Spider-Girl
I thought that the woman in "Ultimate Spider-Man" # 98 was Spider-Woman, and that Ultimate Shadowcat was Spider-Girl (since Spider-Man called her that when she wore her green-and-yellow spider costume). NeoCoronis 15:56, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
- Ultimate Spidey called Kitty "Spider-Girl" but she didn't like the name. The one in #98 doesn't have a name in print as of... today. So, we'll see. -HKMARKS 00:33, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] The Package
Regarding this paragraph:
- There were plans, however, to reunite Baby May and her parents. Tom Defalco intended for the "Package" in The Amazing Spider-Man #434-435 to be May, and for Kaine to bring her back to Peter and Mary Jane. That was ruled out infavor of bringing Aunt May back in the main title. Tom's original plans can be seen in flashback in Spider-Girl #49.
Was it really Tom's 'original plan' to bring back May, or is that just fan speculation? Is there a source for this? I take things like the contents of Spider-Girl as like an extended 'What If...?' and not as indicating the author's plans for 616-continuity. Should this bit be edited out?Jayunderscorezero 09:05, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
- Okay, I've now edited the article a bit to remove what I considered speculation.Jayunderscorezero 09:13, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
Tom Defalco has confirmed in most of his posts on www.comicboards.com. He's even credited the board in some of the Spider-Girl letter pages. 71.115.225.100 3:44 PM 8/28/06
- Do you have any direct links for those? It'd be nice to add something straight from the horse's mouth. -HKMarks 00:27, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
- I would have responded sooner, but I wanted to find the best thread on the detail. (Tom Defalco's comment) 71.115.210.70
[edit] Alternative future
I seems to remember from comments from TD that this is actually an alternative PRESENT, it's not the future. Anyone else know what I'm talking about? --Charlesknight 23:56, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah. One of the more annoying details about MC2. It's the "future" of the characters but it's set in the present. This really needs a citation and a clear explanation if you want to add it to the article, though. That reminds me... around when Spider-Girl started, I sent Marvel a letter begging them to make it just a little more futuristic. So much for that :P --HKMarksCANDY IS A FOOD GROUPTALK♦CONTRIBS 06:20, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
- I believe Tom's reasoning to that is to fit it in with Marvel time so that Heroes that were rooted in the 60s (Like constant use of commies) would remain vaild. So in the MC2's past Spider-Man made his debut in 1962, the Fantastic Four in 1961, the X-Men in 1963 and so on. 71.115.210.70
- X-Men:First Class, about the original X-Men, is set in the pressent. It mentions the X-Box, for instance. --Chris Griswold (☎☓) 07:57, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
- Untold Tales of Spider-Man used a similar approach, using fashions and speech that wouldn't have seemed out-of-place at any time from the 1960s to the 1990s. Even the -1 issue, which took place at a time that was originally meant to be the late 1940s or early 1950s, was so vague about the time that it could have easily happened in the 1970s or 1980s OR the 1940s. It's a fun trick when they bother to use it. --HKMarksTALKCONTRIBS 16:23, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] The Wizard #181 Info
Because the info of the woman wearing the Spider-Girl costume has recently been confirmed to be Mattie Franklin AKA Spider Woman [III]; the section has been deleted....PaxHouse 02:02, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Magnetic manipulation?
I've noticed that someone added Magnetic manipulation to Spider-Girl's SHB powers, and categories. Her attraction/repulsion powers work on non-ferrous materials, and are based on electrostatic attraction, so I'm just wondering if "magnetism" needs to be listed as a power? Just wondering. NeoCoronis
- That was me. At the time I couldnt think of a better title for it. Thinking back now it does seem like the wrong choice. Can anybody else come up with a better term for her ability? Thefro552 17:16, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
-
- Maybe "manipulation of electrostatic attraction" or "Manipulation of Contact force". NeoCoronis 14:25, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
-
-
- I think electrostatic manipulstion or the Contact force sound good. Thefro552 17:16, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
