Spike (Ape Escape)

Spike, known in Japan as Kakeru, is the fictional protagonist character of the Ape Escape, Ape Escape: On The Loose, Ape Escape: Pumped & Primed, Ape Escape Million Monkeys,and Ape Escape 2001(Japan only) video games.
Spike is also seen racing his best friend Jake (Hiroki in the Japanese version), who is also a "rival" to Spike. He has an 11-year-old cousin, Jimmy, who appears in Ape Escape 2 and possible friends Kei and Yumi, the protagonist of Ape Escape 3. He also has a crush on Helga or Haruka as her Japanese name in Ape Escape Pumped and Primed, and Ape Escape Million Monkeys.
Spike's hobbies are racing with Jake, Hanging out around town, and visiting his cousin, Jimmy. Spike's appearance changes from game to game. In Ape Escape and in Ape Escape 2001 he wears his trademark red striped shirt, blue shorts, and 2 red bands on his arms. In Ape Escape 2, he is basically the same, but he wears blue jeans instead of blue shorts. In Ape Escape: Pumped & Primed, if you are not wearing unlocked clothing, he is back to blue shorts, but his white stripe on his shirt is much thinner, he wears a blue visor, has black sleeves under his shirt, he lost the red wrist bands, and you can see his natural black hair under his less arranged spiky red and yellow hair. In his, Jimmy's, and the professor's cameo in Ape Escape 3, he wears his Ape Escape 1 attire. However,in Ape Escape Million Monkeys he wears a red and white jacket, with more realistic jeans. His appearance in the Ape Escape game coming out in 2007 or 2008 on the PlayStation 3 is currently under progress. Kakeru or Spike stars as the protaganist in "Ape Escape On Air!" in both seasons.
Even though Spike is usually the main character of the franchise, there's nothing very special about him, except that he can withstand Specter's power of mind control and he has extraordinary use of the Stun club and Super Hoop.In Ape Escape, Ape Escape 2001, Ape Escape: On The Loose and in Ape Escape: Pumped & Primed, he took the role as a lucky 10 year old who got a chance to go on a grand adventure and is called from time to time when Specter, Pipotron J or Grid core cause mayhem and chaos.In Ape Escape 2 when it is discovered that once you beat the game if you press L1 start and you'll play as him(Spike) he simply takes the role as a silent protagonist.However, in Ape Escape Million Monkeys, he takes a more important role and is looked upon as a true hero. In Ape Escape On Air, he wears the original clothing from Ape Escape 1 in Season 1, he wears his Ape Escape Million Monkeys attire in Season 2 later on.
Spike's personality is simple: kind,eager,spunky,brave, and rather witty, and he portrays it well in choice of sentences,ability to never give up,his quick thinking, and his over eager expressions.(Which stands out in the Saru Getchu anime.) In Ape Escape Million Monkeys he is a little overly dramatic, serious, and has lost a little of his innocence. But despite this, he still has his old personality.
