The Spicy Chicken Sandwich is a type of chicken sandwich, a signature sandwich sold by the Wendy's chain of fast-food restaurants since 1996, made with a chicken breast fillet on a kaiser roll, topped with lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise. Prior to 1996 the sandwich was available "for a limited time only" on several occasions, but was made a permanent menu item due to customer demand.
Recently, a new variation of the Spicy Chicken sandwich has been introduced as a promotional item at Wendy's restaurants. The sandwich features the Spicy Chicken patty, with pepperjack cheese, jalpeno peppers and chipoltle sauce on artisan bread, which is also used for "Frescata" sandwiches. This sandwich has been named the "4 Alarm" sandwich, because of the four hot ingredients.
